(Ted Petit - 2004) Photos of Ted Petit's cultivars can be viewed at Le Petit Jardin

(Magical Passes x  Blueberry Lemonade). Sev. to Ev. 5.5” fl. 25” sc. M. 20-25 buds. This flower is different from anything that has ever come out of my hybridizing program.  Obviously it has come from pattern breeding, but who could have anticipated such a pattern.  The triangular flower  has a large pattern that is mimicked on the sepals.  The eye itself has many bands of charcoal, lavender, rose and burgundy.  The petal self is a clear yellow.  But what makes this flower so unique is that the  pattern eye flares out on the midribs to reach all the way to the petal edges.

(Pat Stamile - 2006) Photos of Pat Stamile's cultivars can be viewed at Floyd Cove Nursery.

*INIMITABLE (Stamile,P.) TET 2164-F {(Sangre De Cristo x Fuchsia Kiss) x [((Magic Amethyst x Lake Effect) X Big Blue) X Be Thine]} 32” MRe. Ev. vfr. emo. 7 ½” x 4 1/8” x 2 ¼”. 4 way branching. (2 laterals + terminal ”Y”)  28 buds.

Inimitable means “incapable of copy”. In my experience I have never been able to get a near white of this size. First blooms on this monster are 8” with almost 5” petals and 3” sepals! It is simply the largest full formed near white that I know of. There may be others out there but I have not seen them.

The flowers are heavy and large and have a pastel pink blush and a deep grass green throat. Although it has none of the “angel wings” of its full sib JUDY FARQUHAR, INIMITABLE is beautifully ruffled with precise fluted ruffles.

A very consistent flower INIMITABLE has very few “Bad hair days”. Flowers are uniformly good. Excellent plant habits and plant balance.

A great parent for immense flowers and easily fertile both ways.

(Karol Emmerich - 2004) Photos of Karol Emmerich's cultivars can be viewed at Springwood Gardens.

TET (Mask of Eternity x Ancient Reflections) 34-37”, EM, Sev (but can act as a Dormant in MN), Re, 6-7”, EMO, 3-4 way branching with 2-3 laterals and an average budcount of 15 in MN. Outstanding performer from MN to Alabama. Strongly (and instantly) recurrent. Opens long before any normal person gets up, so needs some afternoon shade to keep it from fading by evening. Pink lavender (lighter than the picture) with a feathered merlot patterned eye. Large green throat extending onto the sepals. Fertile both ways. Super parent for patterned eyes with good scapes and rebloom.

(Karol Emmerich - 2007) Photos of Karol Emmerich's cultivars can be viewed at Springwood Gardens.

TET (Forbidden Desires x Born to Reign), 24”, M, Dor, fr, 6”, 4-way branching (with consistent 3 lats plus V and up to 8-way when established), 25 buds (range of 20-40). Reddish purple with silvery lavender watermark and edge; large yellow/green throat. Great foliage all summer. Very hardy and a good increaser; recovers well after dividing; very dormant despite its parents and will not perform well in a greenhouse. Fertile both ways.

(Karol Emmerich - 2007) Photos of Karol Emmerich's cultivars can be viewed at Springwood Gardens.

TET 55902 {Light of the World x (Only Believe x Uppermost Edge)}, 38”, M, Sev, EMO, fr, 6 ½”, consistent 4-way branching (2 lats plus V), 20 buds. Clear ivory pink peach apricot (darker apricot on cool nights) with ivory pink midribs; burgundy eye and edge with gold ruffles; yellow to green throat. Not just another eyed daylily! It’s majestic and tall – a surprise given its breeding. Strong scapes; good increaser; great foliage all season; re-establishes quickly after dividing. Trust me – you will love this one! (Please note: scape is large so in year one with one fan the scape may lean a bit – not a problem once it’s established with 2 or more fans.) Kids are tall and well-branched with showy eyes. Fertile both ways but more difficult than average pod-setter.

Fertile both ways; more difficult than average pod fertility.

(Ted Petit - FALL 2008) Photo and description courtesy of Le Petit Jardin

* Landon Lee -- (Catcher In The Eye x Rippled Oasis) Sev. 6” fl. 30” sc. M 20 buds.  Landon Lee is one of the most striking patterned flowers in my garden. The iridescent applique throat forms a shocking contrast to the dark, bold purple patterned eye. The petal edges lift in the throat area, displaying the dramatically mimicked applique and purple pattern on the sepals.  Adding to the overall complexity of the flower is a matching dark purple picotee edge surrounded by a ruffled gold edge, typically with gold hooks and horns. Richard Taylor, my good friend and garden helper/advisor from Indianapolis, chose this striking flower to be named for his friend’s young son.

*LAST SONG -- (Mardi Gras Ball x Alexa Katherine) x (Rippled Oasis) Sev. 6" fl. 33" sc. M 20 buds.  Last Song is a flower that will not be mistaken for any other flower.  Like a soft whisper in the garden, it is both captivating and serene at the same time.  The petal self is a pale cream lavender, with a deep green throat.  The flower has a striking triangular patterned eye, which is mimicked on the sepals.  The eye is a violet lavender that is made up of two distinct bands: an inner and outer darker lavender mascara band.  Between the bands is a lighter lavender violet eye, which contains inward streaking.  The flowers are covered in a heavy diamond dusting, sparkling in the sunlight. The overall effect is quite amazing.

(Karol Emmerich - 2003) Photos of Karol Emmerich's cultivars can be viewed at Springwood Gardens.

TET {(Wisest of Wizards x Seedling) x Jenny Kissed Me} 24”, M, Sev, 5-½ to 6”, consistent 3-way branching with perfect spacing and 25 buds, EMO even on cold mornings and still looks great at 8PM, greenhouse rebloomer. Soft yellow with a slight pink blush. Feathered rose pink eye and edge; olive throat. Super garden performer – long season with lots of bloom – spectacular in a clump. Hardy and a rapid increaser. Fertile both ways. Good breeder for round, patterned and edged daylilies, as well as doubles.

TET (Mister Lucky x Crazy Ivan), semi evergreen. 6" flower, 4-way branching. 30 buds on a 33" scape.
MADAME PELE is a brilliant orangey-coral flower with a very striking crimson eye and heavily ruffled crimson edge. This has been a real eye catcher in the garden. MADAME PELE is one of the first progeny of Crazy Ivan we have introduced. It is one of the largest red-eyed and red-edged daylilies we’ve seen.

(Tholian Web x Bit Of Blue) 31” EERe. emo.nofr. Ev. 5.25” x 2.5” x 1.75”. 5-way branching. 35 buds.
Totally unlike its sib BARCODE with its distinct bands, MARSEILLES WATERCOLOR always reminds me of a watercolor. The colors are so soft and seemingly melt into each other so it is difficult to discern where one color ends and the other begins. The exception, of course, is the bright fuchsia outer eye band which repeats onto the edge.
One of the earliest patterned daylilies to bloom in the garden, MARSEILLES WATERCOLOR displays great floriferousness with multiple branching and bloom providing terrific color impact, great bud count and branching. Fertile both ways.

(Patrick Stamile - SPRING 2009) Photos and description courtesy of Floyd Cove Nursery

*MINT OCTOPUS (Stamile,P.) TET 549-A {Frog’s Eye X [(sdlg. x Tetra Green Widow) x Tetra Desert Icicle]} 32” EMRe. emo. no fr. Ev. 8” x 2.5” x 1.25”. 7-way branching (4 laterals plus terminal “w”) 45-55 buds. Long petal.

The beautiful mint green blend was not totally unexpected given the number of green flowers in the background of MINT OCTOPUS. Fairly low for a spider but with an incredible bud count and branching MINT OCTOPUS makes a wonderful border spider. Its green cast offers a cooling aspect to the ordinarily hot colors of the daylily garden.

Very desirable and highly recommended. Fertile both ways. (Clump Shot Below!)

(Reed, ’09)   50”  MLa  8”  dor.dip.ext.  Unusual Form – pinched crispate (very consistent).  Large, late, tall, and pinkish.

This bloom has size, form, substance, presence, and personality.  The color is muted pink, with a large yellow-cream throat (green deep in the throat).  The sepals quill and curl and the petals are ruffled.  Parentage unknown, this has been a favorite garden flower for the late season for some time. Scapes are erect and the bud count is just adequate (around 12). Difficult pod parent.  Really nice dancing in the late garden!  It is a bud builder still in bloom at the end of August. Actual budcount is higher with good culture.

TET (Front Porch Swing x Spanish Wedding Gown), semi evergreen. 6-1/2" — 7" flower, 4-way branching. 28 buds on a 30" scape.
MISS LULA MAE is a HUGE very flat flower. The center half of this large polychrome flower is a beautiful waxy green. The outer edge of the petals is a contrasting citron.
Fertile both ways

(Pat Stamile - 2008) Photos of Pat Stamile's cultivars can be viewed at Floyd Cove Nursery.

(Azure Wings x Linguini)  37” Ere. emo. Ev. (11” wingspan)  10” x 1” x .75”. 5-way branching. 30-35 buds. Classic spider. Spider ratio 5.0:1.
MORPHO’S DANCE is a bitone but with rich clear lavender petals and pale lavender sepals. I believe bitones and bicolors are under-utilized in the modern daylily. This is especially true in the spider class where you can so clearly see the sepals since they are rarely overlapped by the petals.
One of my personal favorites among this years spiders MORPHO’S DANCE is sheer joy in the garden. Fertile both ways but a very difficult pod parent.

Rose cranberry bitone with etched pink watermark and small gold edge; yellow to green throat. All blooms consistent on a given day, but every day is different in terms of the color range – hence the name Rapid increaser. Fertile both ways but difficult pollen parent.

Adding to the beauty are the bubbly gold edges surrounding the petals and petaloids.
