Home of the "Yard Sale Queen"......Dan & Jo Ann White..2457 Kinder Place, Glen Carbon, Il.62034
Kinder Place Gardens, an AHS regional tour and Display Garden, is located just 20 minutes east of the St. Louis Arch and the Mississippi River. Daylilies, perennials, shade, woodland and waterside plants are displayed in 26 garden venues on three acres carved out of Civil War Captain Jacob Kinder's homestead..The garden is bordered by a lake on the south, woods to the west, horse farm and stables to the north, and a brick Italiante house built by Jacob Kinder to the east...September 2012, a few acres on the north were purchased, a Mount Vernon type garden is being established for tours in the future.
The Mount Vernon inspired garden is 120 foot square, a 20 foot grass area runing North to South and a 8 foot grass area running East to West divide the area into 4 quardants....each quardant has unique paths and plant placements....outlining each quardant is 2 foot path lined on one side with money grass and on the outside rasied daylily beds with dayllies grouped by color and form...east side all unusual forms, south side all yellow on one quardant and all red on the second quardant....west side toothy daylilies and center beds all patterned eye...a cirular bed in the middle dispalys all of our introductions...
As retired antique dealers after 30 years of collecting and selling antiques, our love for history has resulted in garden venues accented with garden antiques including benches, bird baths, sun dials, statues, iron gates and cast iron fence sections...as the result of our love for animals including our feathered friends, the garden is the home of a bird house village featuring over 10 bird houses, custom made from old barn lumber.
Hybridizers since 2002, primary interest spider, narrow and unusual forms, working with edges, TEETH, patterned eyes and interesting colors...First introduction "YARD SALE QUEEN" 2006, named for Jo Ann, the real Yard Sale Queen.
